The purpose of the Fund is to raise funds and receive donations to be used to relieve cases of need, hardship or distress of persons who are or have been members of bowls clubs affiliated to the Suffolk County Bowls Association and after the decease of such persons any surviving spouse or dependants.
The Fund was founded in 1937 and became a Charitable Trust on 27th June 1997. The association encourages all affiliated clubs to raise money for the Benevolent Fund. Each County Area also organises one or more Tournaments for the benefit of the Fund. All clubs are also asked to elect a Benevolent Warden for the purpose of raising funds.
Grants are determined by the Honorary Fund Secretary and one other trustee. All matters are treated in the strictest confidence.
Applications for grants may be made through the appropriate Honorary Area Secretary or direct to the Honorary Fund Secretary.
Applications forms may be obtained from either the Honorary Area Secretary or direct to the Honorary Fund Secretary and must be signed by one officer of the Club and by a member of the Area Executive Committee.
